La Nucía becomes a smart pool with nagi.

The La Nucía Heated Pool is incorporating nagi Smartpool to enhance safety, monitor performance, and offer a more connected swimming experience.

The La Nucía Heated Pool has introduced nagi Smartpool, becoming the first smart pool in the Valencian Community and joining the Spanish Network of Connected Smart Pools (E.P.I.C.).

During the presentation, Bernabé Cano, Mayor of La Nucía, highlighted the value of this new technology in advancing the facility’s digitalization and enhancing user safety. Also participating were Fernando Carpena, President of the Royal Spanish Swimming Federation; Sergio Villalba, La Nucía’s Councilor for Sports; Matzalen Laskibar, CEO of Emtesport (the operator of the La Nucía pool); and José Miguel López, Director of Institutional Relations at nagi Smartpool.

The project combines water safety, sports monitoring, and connected technology to enhance both the swimmers’ experience and the tools available to facility professionals.

Technology at the service of security

One of the key advancements incorporated into the facility is the nagi drowning prevention system.

Swimmers use a small device that can be attached to their goggles or swim cap. Using a network of antennas, the system monitors their activity and can detect potentially dangerous situations such as excessive time spent underwater by sending an alert to the lifeguard’s device.

In this way, nagi provides real-time information that helps professionals anticipate their actions in the face of a potential risk situation.

A new way to experience training

Technology also allows users to better understand their performance. Swimmers can view data such as distance, time, and pace, both on the poolside display and via the nagi app.

This information can be useful for all types of swimmers: from recreational swimmers to developing athletes and competitive swimmers.

Furthermore, being part of the E.P.I.C. network will pave the way for new connected experiences across pools, such as virtual challenges and competitions.

A project driven by European funds

The installation of nagi Smartpool represented an investment of €104,398.80 by the La Nucía City Council, with a grant of €46,800 from European funds under the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (Next Generation EU), channeled through the Higher Sports Council.

With this addition, the La Nucía Heated Pool takes another step forward in the digitalization of sports and becomes an example of how technology can help create safer, connected, and smart pools.
