Nagi Smartpool has installed its technology in Torrevieja with the aim of improving safety in swimming pools and revolutionizing the swimming experience.
The Torrevieja City Council has become a pioneer in the innovation of safety technology in its swimming pools thanks to the arrival of Nagi Smartpool. In times where safety is possibly the greatest challenge in the world, the Torrevieja Municipal Indoor Pool will have a system that allows to prevent drowning and have a perfect management of the safety distance between users and the control of gauges so important in these times of pandemic.
Following this agreement, the Torrevieja City Council has equipped its pool with an innovative system that, in addition to safety, is revolutionizing the experience of swimmers. Nagi Smarpool allows all users to know “live”, and through screens located next to the pool glass, all the records of their activity in the water (activity time, distance, rest time, best marks, …) .
This technology has recently been installed in countries such as Japan and the United States. In Spain, it is already installed in Oviedo, Murcia, Albacete, … However, it will be the first time that a Mediterranean city has this tool that will also be installed with the latest news and the complete security solution (drowning and COVID-19) and activity control.
With a click, the swimmer will be located within the enclosure both in and out of the water thanks to a tracking technology that the Spanish company Nothingbutnet (to which Nagi Smartpool belongs) has installed in reference locations in the world of sports such as l’Alqueria Valencia Basket, the GoFit gym chain and other professional clubs.
This location allows the swimmer to be safe during the duration of his session for two reasons: the first, with the prevention of drowning since, in case of being submerged for longer than established, the device will emit a signal to the lifeguard so that can act immediately: and the second, of great importance in these times, with the possibility of real-time control of the capacity and the safety distance. In case of breaking the distance with other swimmers, the device will emit an alert that will warn the swimmer that he is not complying with it and will continue with his warning until the distance is correct.
Javier Bosch, CEO of Nagi Smartpool, spoke about Nagi’s arrival in Torrevieja: “This alert system detects when there are two swimmers less than two meters apart and for more than five seconds. At that moment, the card emits a light and the lifeguard is notified that the safety space between the swimmers is not being maintained ”, explained Bosch.
“Thanks to this system I will have to stop looking at my watch and simply be aware of a screen that, every hundred meters, will tell me what I am doing and how I am doing in each series,” said triathlete Marta Francés.
The mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, has highlighted that it is one of the “most important Olympic pools in the Valencian Community”, which now includes “a system is here to stay”.
